// Hiya, I’m Ian
Let’s start at the being… I am Ian R (for Russell) Marshall and I’m a Nottingham wedding photographer. I was born in Harare, Zimbabwe and moved to England aged seven moving to Bristol then Coventry and finally settled in Nottingham at aged 9.
For many years, I worked as a Musician and Music teacher and took on professional performance freelance work including things like song writing, session work, wedding bands and musical theatre. Love a bit of ‘Jazz Hands’ and I have always loved being creative.
I am a keen rock climber (see image of me dangling off a rock), love getting outdoors in the Peak District, which is sometimes like a second home.... and I am obsessed with music, all styles of music, new, old, everything and I appeared on the a Sky TV show Guitar Star Season 2 - Episode 1.
I started taking photographs as a hobby and then over time friends, family, night clubs, businesses and other people asked me to take photos for them. With enjoying this work so much, I plucked up the courage and approached several outstanding and creative photographers and offered my services to second shoot/assisting them to the gain experience. After several years, I took the leap to start up on my own…. and here I am!
What I love about being a wedding photographer is giving someone memories and captured moments to last forever and to show future generations. I remember as a child flicking through my parents’ photo albums and slides (yes, 'SLIDES!!') and reliving those memories. This is what I want to give my clients, photographic memories to make you smile now, and in years to come relive the moment.
